‘The Port Recounts Corto in 100 Blocks’, from 9th July 2025
A walk along the Levante Pier marks the opening of Senigallia’s tribute to Hugo Pratt. Meanwhile, the Hugo Pratt Comics Award draws near, ready to bring the voices of a new generation into the artist’s ever-expanding legacy.
Corto Maltese Lands in Senigallia
Starting on 9 July, the Molo di Levante will be transformed into an open-air itinerary dedicated to the legendary sailor created by Hugo Pratt. Along the breakwater blocks that line the mouth of the River Misa, an urban installation will unfold, made up of 100 panels featuring colour illustrations from In Siberia — the historic adventure first published in 1974 and reissued this year in its complete version in AlterLinus.
The concrete blocks have been restored and repainted white; mounted on them are durable composite aluminium panels, creating a true open-air gallery. Walking along the pier, visitors will be able to relive an entire sequence of the story set in 1920, between Hong Kong, Manchuria, and Siberia — among trains loaded with Tsarist gold, spies, revolutionaries, and the ever-present Rasputin.

The installation precedes two major events that will turn Senigallia into a hub for comics this October:
• From October 1st to November 30th, the evocative underground chambers of the Rocca Roveresca will host an exhibition dedicated to Hugo Pratt — From Pratt’s Legendary Bookshop to the Fantastic Adventures of Corto — presented alongside a showcase of finalist works by students from European comics schools.
• On October 25th, the city will welcome the first edition of the Hugo Pratt Comics Awards, featuring more than 40 participating schools from across Europe.

The project — which brings together the port installation, the exhibition, and the award — is the brainchild of Giorgio Amadei, founder of the cultural association I Gabbiani di Hugo, and Patrizia Zanotti, managing director of Cong SA, the company that manages the rights to Hugo Pratt’s work.
The Municipality of Senigallia, represented by Mayor Massimo Olivetti and City Council member Elisabetta D’Amico, has warmly embraced and supported the initiative from the outset.
The entire tribute to Hugo Pratt is organized in collaboration with Rizzoli Lizard, Favini, and Piko Print, and benefits from the patronage of the Marche Region and the Port Authority.
